Scotland!!

So far practices for the Ediburgh Military Tattoo have been AMAZING!! My favorite act by far is the Kings Guard from Norway, they are so awesome. Every one in the group from Norway is serving a madatory 1 year in the military. They do a rifle show that is so awesome, it amazes me how precise everything is. I have taken ton's of video of the show but I can't put it online until much later once the dvd of the show is released. So I'll put up some pictures so that you can get a small taste of the show.

I haven't really been able to do much exploring around town because we have been practicing so much. We have our first performance tonight infront of 10,000 people!! We have a dress rehersal before hand and then we have the actual performance. I'm really excited to get the show started, I know that time is going to fly by once the show actually starts but it's going to be so awesome. We did a run through last night after dark and the lighting that they do during the show is fabulous. I really don't know how to describe how amazing it is.

York!

So I've been offline for a couple of days becuase we could not connnect to the internet at the dorms that we were staying at in York. We don't have great internet connection in Scotland I am now sitting at a cafe using WIFI pretty far away from the dorms. Hopefully though in the next couple of days we will be able to find somewhere else closer to the dorms with internet access.

The past couple of days have been alot of fun. When we went to York yesterday we spent most of the time in the York Minster this AMAZING church right in the center or York. We toured the whole church (tower, catacombs, and main level). The views from the top of the church were priceless you could see the entire city. You only had to climb up 275 stairs in a VERY small spiral staircase. It was so small that they had to time when everyone went up and down becuase there wasn't enough room for you to pass anyone on the stairs! We then went down into the catacombs of the church where they found the remains of the foundation of the church from the time of the ROMANS! There was a base of a column that was from the 4th century. I still find it hard to wrap my head around the concept of how old these remains really were. The rest of the the church was fantastic as well, amazing stained glass and floors.

Today we left York and traveled to Edinburgh!! It was a long windy trip through the English countryside but it was also very beautiful! I am very glad to be moved into the flat since we will be here for almost 30 days without having to move at all!! We haven't really done a whole lot except for unpacking and finding somewhere to use the internet since we cannot connect to it in the dorms. I will try to up date as often as I can with pictures and so forth! Tomorrow we are taking our pictures for our miliatry id badges that will get us on and off of the Redford Calvary Barracks and in and out of the Edinburgh castle..yes I said castle, I'm SO excited!

Plane trip and first day in London!!

We left Cape Girardeau at 11pm on Monday the 21st after a 7hr bus ride we arrived in Chicago at 7pm. Our flight took off at 10pm and we arrived in London at 11:30 am on the 22nd. We then took a 3 hr tour of the main points of London, while this barely scratched the surface, it did take us to the main points aroud town.

We then went to our hotel and were able to go out on our own. We bought a one day pass for the tube and were on our way. We went to Kingscross station, where they re-created the Harry Potter scene from platform 9 3/4, we went to Abbey road to re-create the famous Beatles cover, and then we went to Baker street home to Sherlock Holmes and of course we had to take a picture inside of a red telephone booth!
